San Diego's Grand Central Station

Today on the Southern California Real Estate Report we talk about San Diego's quest for a transit center near the San Diego Airport, that will allow for San Diego to provide better transit to and from the Airport and other part of the City and County.

Often referred to as "San Diego Grand Central Station," the transit hub will offer the opportunity for San Diegans to get to the airport without using personal vehicles.

San Diego has been mostly reliant on cars as the most dominate form of transportation but with a new transit hub SANDAG hopes to improve traffic in the Point Loma area as well as provide the City and County with more ways to get around.

So far SANGAG has began the environmental review process and is looking at two locations: The Navy's Old Town Campus or a site near the eastern part of the airport.

There are even talks of an underground people mover to connect the transit site to the airport.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be 4 billion.
